ROSA GALLERY WATERCOLOR REVIEW Professional Art Supply Painting Set Ronald's Ukraine

Further info will be added to the "lightfast testing and art supply review" section. This includes any other videos I've made about this company, still images of example art, a collection of color charts, along with fugitive fading results. I share my experience on hundreds of pigment and dye ingredients from dozens of painting, drawing and craft supply manufacturers.

If you would like to buy any of the supplies I used in this video, the Amazon links are below. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. I've also included links to the waterproof inks, pens, brushes and papers I use in all of my reviews. For watercolor, gouache or ink painting, I use small round brushes by Princeton. Heritage series is ideal for a sharp point, small details and snap. Their Neptune series is a synthetic imitation squirrel hair, which is a very soft brush with an amazing ability to hold a lot of water for washes.

Rosa Gallery does a few colors very well (better than White Nights or any other paints I’ve tried). Primarily, if you can find “Magenta Rose” PR122 it is really worth having from Rosa. They also have a great quin lilac, violet, ultramarine, blue and phthalo green.

Otherwise, as far as which brand is overall better – White Nights has better pan assortments with more single-pigment colors instead of mixtures. Depending on where you live White Nights may be easier and cheaper to get. Rosa Gallery’s pan sets have about half the colors that are less useful mixtures. Overall I don’t recommend buying every color from a single brand, but rather buying certain colors that a brand does well.

My main palette is a mixture of all sorts of brands, everything from Rosa, White Nights, Daniel Smith, Schmincke, DaVinci, MGraham etc. because each brand does something better than the rest. I would definitely look at the swatch cards on the Rosa page to see which ones look the best to you for collecting – https://www.kimcrick.com/pages/rosa-gallery-watercolor-review

I’m making a list of my top recommended colors to set up a custom individually-collected color palette at https://www.kimcrick.com/pages/top-lightfast-watercolor-pigments
